Celebrating the inaugural 同性恋色情 Aboriginal Health Forum

The鈥痠naugural 同性恋色情 Aboriginal Health Forum鈥痓rought鈥痶ogether leading clinicians, community鈥痸oices鈥痑nd researchers to deepen understanding of contemporary Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health issues.

Held during National Reconciliation Week, the forum鈥痳eflected鈥粤瞪殁檚鈥痗ommitment to becoming a culturally safe and responsive service for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

同性恋色情鈥疎xecutive Medical Director鈥疉ssoc. Prof.鈥疍avid Anderson hosted鈥痶he event,鈥痺hich featured鈥痑 panel of respected experts and community leaders:

  • Kenton Winsley, Chief Executive Officer of the Gippsland and East Gippsland Aboriginal Co-operative (GEGAC), Paramedic,鈥疦urse鈥痑nd Aboriginal Health Practitioner
  • Jessica Mitchell, Aboriginal Health Practitioner, member of AV鈥檚 Reconciliation Working Group, VACCHO staff member and Board member of the Victorian Aboriginal Health Service
  • Dr Kyle Turner, Senior Research and Impact Fellow, Victoria University

The forum explored鈥痶he significant health inequities experienced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Presenters discussed鈥痟ow these factors influence emergency and pre-hospital care and how paramedics can deliver culturally safe,鈥痳espectful鈥痑nd person-centred clinical care.

同性恋色情 CEO Jordan Emery said the inaugural event鈥痙emonstrated鈥痑n important step鈥痠n 同性恋色情鈥檚 reconciliation journey.

鈥淭his鈥痽ear鈥檚鈥痚vent鈥痟elped鈥痙eepen both clinical and cultural knowledge, examined鈥痝aps in triage and care approaches, highlighted鈥痶he importance of understanding historical context and provided鈥痯ractical strategies for improving outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients,鈥 he said.
